Medical Assessment

We started with Dental digital X-Rays in 2018. Digital x-rays are a crucial part of evaluating your pets’ mouth during dental surgery. After the teeth have been cleaned, we will perform the radiographs on all the teeth of your pet. When your cats or dogs have a periodontal illness, damage mostly occurs below the gum line, where it is difficult or sometimes impossible to see. Due to that, we use Digital Dental X-rays to determine your cats' or dogs' oral health. It allows our team to help diagnose & treat your pets far better.

Surgery

Our professional veterinarians with their expert team can perform routine elective & non-elective surgeries such as:
Spaying (Ovariohysterectomy)
Neutering (Orchidectomy or Castration)
Lump removal- which can be done with full general anesthesia or sedation
Laceration repair- Which can be done with full general anesthesia or sedation
Abscess and wound repair
Exploratory surgery
Removal of gastrointestinal foreign bodies
Enucleation (eye removal)
Cystotomy (removal of bladder stones)
Skin Biopsy
Soft tissue surgery
and other emergency & complex procedures.

Wellness & Vaccination

Our wellness and vaccination programs are designed to prevent disease and prolong the lives of your companion animals. Disease prevention is always less costly than dealing with the treatment of a disease once your pet has developed it. An example would be the treatment of parvovirus. Parvovirus treatment can frequently cost $3,000 or more while a single parvovirus vaccination will usually cost less than $100. Early diagnosis of a disease process can lead your pet to a longer healthier life. Kidney disease, if diagnosed early, will allow us to modify your dog or cat's diet and in some cases add supplements to their diet to potentially extend their lives. There are many other conditions to which an early diagnosis is advantageous.

Dentistry

According to the American Veterinary Dental Society, 80% of dogs and 70% of cats have oral disease by the age of 3. It is the most frequently diagnosed health problem in pets. Common signs of oral disease include tartar buildup, red and swollen gums, bad breath, changes in eating or chewing habits, pawing at the face and generalized depression.A veterinarian should evaluate your pet’s dental health at least once a year. We recommend this because bacteria and food debris accumulate around a pet’s teeth and, if left unchecked, will lead to deterioration of the soft tissue and bone surrounding the teeth. This decay results in irreversible periodontal disease and even tooth loss. There are other reasons why you should pay close attention to your pet’s dental health. Dental disease can affect other organs in the body: bacteria in the mouth can get into the bloodstream and may cause serious kidney infections, liver disease, lung disease, and heart valve disease. Oral disease can also indicate that another disease process is occurring elsewhere in a pet’s body. A thorough physical exam combined with appropriate laboratory work can determine if this is the case.We can recommend and demonstrate preventative measures you can begin at home. Our wellness program emphasizes and explains how you can avoid costly dental procedures with your pet in the future.

Digital Radiology

Radiographs are routinely used to provide valuable information about a pet’s bones, gastrointestinal tract (stomach, intestines, colon), respiratory tract (lungs, trachea), heart, and genitourinary system (bladder, prostate, urethra). They can be used alone or in conjunction with other diagnostic tools to provide a list of possible causes for a pet’s condition, identify the exact cause of a problem or rule out possible problems. When a pet is being radiographed, an x-ray beam passes through its body and hits a piece of digital electronic radiographic "film". Images on the film are projected through a computer, and appear as various shades of gray and reflect the anatomy of the animal. Bones, which absorb more x-rays, appear as light gray structures. Soft tissues, such as the lungs, absorb fewer x-rays and appear as dark gray structures.Interpretation of radiographs requires great skill on the part of the veterinarian. We can also send your radiographs for interpretation with a specialist if need be.

Laser Therapy

Laser therapy provides a sterile, pain-free, surgery-free, drug-free treatment, which is used to treat a variety of injuries, wounds, fractures, neurological conditions, numerous dermatological problems, and pain. Whether your pet is rehabilitating from trauma or injury, healing from wounds, or simply ageing, your companion will benefit from this revolutionary new approach to Veterinary medicine. All of our elective surgeries benefit from a session of Laser therapy after surgery. Laser therapy is the only course of treatment that stimulates the body to heal from within. Non-thermal photons of light are administered to the body and absorbed by the injured cells. The cells are then stimulated and respond with a higher rate of metabolism. This results in increased circulation from the body, an anti-inflammatory reaction, relief from pain and an acceleration of the healing process. Simply put, it provides relief. As the laser is administered, your pet will relax and enjoy, much like you, experiencing a good massage. The almost immediate relief of pain will allow your pet to be comfortable and any anxiety that your pet initially experienced will dissipate. Angry feline companions will start to purr and most of our canine companions will actually fall asleep during their therapy session. Frequently, after therapy, the quote is heard: “Our young animal is back” or “she acts like a puppy again.” - Pain relief is provided in just a few minutes of therapy and that alone improves the quality of life for your best friend.

Microchip Identification

Microchipping has become a very popular and safe way to permanently identify your pet and you as the owner in the unfortunate case that your pet is lost. Microchipping involves the placement of a small electronic chip the size and shape of a piece of rice just under the skin in the neck area. A needle is used to inject the chip. The injection is comparable to a regular vaccine injection. If your pet becomes lost and is transported to a humane society, the humane society will be able to scan your pet for the chip and contact you. We advise you to use this system of identification as well as a collar identification system on your pet. This is a one-time permanent way of identifying your pet, but you can change your information (i.e. address, phone number, etc.) at any time without having to re-microchip. We have reunited many pet owners with their pets over the years using this microchip information.
